“Pussywillows, cat-tails, soft winds and roses
Rain pools in the woodland, water to my knees
Shivering, quivering, the warm breath of spring
Pussywillows, cat-tails, soft winds and roses”
from a Gordon Lightfoot song
A cattail is a flower that symbolizes peace.
Cattails are a superfood. They say you can eat the stem that grows underground, or the spike at the top. I have not done so. Please see UrbanSurvivalSite.com for details.
I didn’t think of cattails as a flower, let alone something you can eat. I’ve just always enjoyed seeing them in their habitat, wetlands. So much knowledge of the natural world has been lost. Things we should know about ordinary things. Understanding more about Mother Earth causes me to care more about her. She is far wiser than I.
